Coming Together for a Great Cause
DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland in Wicklow
Last week, DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland arrived right on our doorstep here in Wicklow, and what an incredible experience it was. Viewers who tuned in saw another moving story of compassion, teamwork, and design at its best, this time helping the Ferguson family.

Led by Baz Ashmawy and his amazing team, the project brought together volunteers, tradespeople, designers, and suppliers from all over the area. Their goal was simple but powerful, to create a home that’s not just functional, but truly life changing. The Fergusons have dedicated their lives to caring for their son Kyle, who lives with cerebral palsy, and the transformation was all about making their space safe, accessible, and full of joy.

We were so proud to play a small part in this incredible build. Our contribution, a Rio Grande corner sofa set and a solar stainless-steel ball water feature, helped add comfort and calm to the new garden, a space that the whole family can now enjoy together. Seeing that garden come to life, accessible and welcoming, was something special.

What struck us most was the sense of community. Local people, trades, and businesses came together, donating their time, skills, and materials to help create something extraordinary. Every small detail, every bit of effort, it all mattered. It just goes to show how much can be achieved when people unite with a shared purpose.

We may have only played a small role, but being part of something that has made such a difference to one family’s life was truly humbling. A huge well done to the entire DIY SOS team, all the volunteers, and everyone who poured their hearts into the project.

We’re so grateful to have been involved and hope to lend a hand again in future builds. Sometimes it’s the small contributions that help make the biggest difference, and we’re proud to have been a tiny piece of this incredible story.
